Missionary Fights for Children of East Africa
CBNNews.com - Thousands of children have been the victims of one of the most brual terrorist groups in the world known as the Lord's Resistance Army.
The group, led by Joseph Kony, has terrorized the people of Sudan, Uganda, and Congo, raping, murdering, mutilating and abducting innocents.
Be sure to watch The 700 Club for a special interview with the Rev. Sam Childers about how his organization rescues children abducted by the LRA. Or check back here at CBNNews.com after 10 a.m. ET for the full interviews. Check your local listings for times.
Some women were maimed for life when the LRA took them captive. But it wasn't an LRA soldier who dismembered them.
One woman,

"An LRA soldier stood behind me with a gun and he said, 'If you do not cut the hand of this one, I'm going to shoot you," she recalled. "It was hard, but I had no other choice. I did it to save our lives."
The LRA does not spare children from such atrocities.
Children that have been abducted by the LRA are turned into child soldiers and forced to commit atrocities against their own families.
American Missionary Fights Back
One American missionary is fighting back.
In the past 10 years, Sam Childers' has saved more than 1,000 children from the LRA.
About 300 of them are living at his childrens' village orphanage in Nimule, Sudan.
The compound is protected by soldiers of the South Sudan Army and here the children find safety, food, and shelter.
A nightly song and dance is a stark contrast to the fear that dominates the night outside this enclave.
But even those safely inside can't escape the awful memories of what they have seen.
"If you sleep here on the compound there is not at night that goes by that you won't hear the cries and screams in the middle of the night," Childers told CBN News. "These children got to re-live what happened to them."
In his book, Another Man's War, Childer's recounts his life as a former drug dealer who gave his life to Christ.
He now spends his time fighting for the lives of children in East Africa."
